Welcome to Lorton Village Shop,

A Shed With A View.

The picturesque Lake District village of High Lorton near the gem town of Cockermouth stands at the head of the Lorton and Buttermere Valleys, close to Whinlatter Forest Park.

We are Lee and Arwen, and in 2015 we refurbished and re-opened the village shop, reinvigorating the recently-closed amenity which had been standing here for over 80 years.

We wanted to provide locals and visitors with a well-stocked community hub offering quality local produce, showcasing an excellent range of traditional and contemporary Cumbrian food, drink, artists and makers, and supporting as many other local businesses as possible.

Our little shed has a space to sit to watch the fells and sky with an excellent Carvetii coffee, roasted locally in Threlkeld, and a piece of tempting homemade cake. Around the back there's hidden away a dinky suntrap of a wildife garden with seating, bike rack, customer toilet and tap for water bottle refills, where you can watch the birds while you eat your locally-made ice cream.

Once you step through our door you also become part of that network, helping us to support over 100 other small Cumbrian producers.

Why not come inside and see what we're about?
